Joseph, Fineboy Ikechi, Nwankwo, Kelechi Calista, e-mail

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information and communication technology has transformed accounting practices globally. Cloud accounting has emerged as a modern accounting solution that enables organizations to access accounting information and financial data through internet- based platforms. This theoretical article examines the relationship between cloud accounting and the financial performance of manufacturing firms in Nigeria. The study explores the conceptual foundations of cloud accounting, reviews relevant literature, and adopts the Technology Acceptance Theory and Resource-Based View Theory as the theoretical underpinning for analysis. The article argues that cloud accounting enhances operational efficiency, reduces costs, improves decision-making, strengthens financial reporting quality, and ultimately contributes to improved financial performance. The study concludes that the adoption of cloud accounting can provide manufacturing firms in Nigeria with a sustainable competitive advantage and recommends increased investment in cloud-based accounting technologies.
