Abstract

This study investigated the impact of Educational Technology on the teaching and learning of Science Education in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State. The study examined the impact of Educational Technology on teaching and learning, the availability of Educational Technology facilities, and the extent to which Integrated Science teachers improvise Educational Technology materials. Three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A survey research design was adopted, and 120 respondents were selected from schools within the study area. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analysed using mean, standard deviation, and chi-square (X2) statistics at an alpha level of 0.05. The results showed that Educational Technology has a significant impact on the teaching and learning of Integrated Science by appealing to learners’ five senses, thereby making learning more realistic, comprehensive, and enjoyable. However, the study revealed inadequate availability of Educational Technology facilities and limited improvisation of instructional materials by Science education teachers. The study therefore recommended that school authorities and timetable planners should allocate adequate time for practical classes to enable teachers and students to effectively utilise Educational Technology in teaching and learning Science education.
