Roles of Oil Subsidy Removal on Transportation Cost and Water Factory in Cross River South, Nigeria

Onwuzurike Peter Tobechi, Owoh Akwa Owoh, Unoh Grace Inyang, Umaru Musa

Abstract

This study investigates the key determinants of performance among water factory small and medium enterprises, with a focus on the effects of market accessibility, transportation costs, cost of living, policy interventions, and financial fluctuations. The analysis reveals that proximity to markets significantly enhances enterprise performance, underscoring the importance of efficient logistics and infrastructural development. While transportation costs, cost of living, and short-term profit fluctuations show limited influence, supportive government policies, particularly the removal of oil subsidies, positively impact enterprise outcomes. The findings highlight that accessibility and policy frameworks are central to the growth and sustainability of these enterprises. Based on the results, the study recommends investments in infrastructure, sustained policy support, targeted financial programs, and further research into managerial capacity and market dynamics to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of water factory enterprises.
