Alternative Funding Strategies and Financial Sustainability of Public Universities in Rivers State, Nigeria.

Abstract


This study investigated alternative funding strategies and financial sustainability of public universities in Rivers State. Three objectives, three research questions and three null hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted correlational research design. The total population of the study consisted of 1,427 principal officers (Deans, Directors, HODs and Administrative staff) in the three public Universities in Rivers State (629 =RSU, 586 =Uniport, and 212 =IAUE). A sample of 396 principal officers (174=RSU, 163=Uniport & 59=IAUE) were drawn from population using the stratified random sampling technique. Two different self-structured questionnaires
